Ángela is a musician, dancer and researcher who, living between Spain and Indonesia since 2010, delves into the performing arts of both countries. Alongside being a classical pianist, she has been involved in diverse stage productions as a creator, performer, and improviser, always fascinated by the interplay of music with movement and actions.
Part of her current research on the gamelan spectacles at the 1889 Paris World's Fair has resulted in two articles: "Sundanese Reverberances. Untangling Contradictions about the Gamelan Spectacle at the 1889 Paris World's Fair" published in Music & Letters, and "Hidden in Hamburg. Uncovering the Long-lost Gamelan of the 1889 Exposition Universelle" in The Galpin Society Journal. She has also presented at the 2024 Oxford Conference of the Galpin Society, the 2024 AMS Annual Meeting in Chicago, and the 48th ICTMD World Conference in New Zealand.
While finishing her dissertation on exoticism in music and dance during the international exhibitions of the nineteenth century, Ángela remains devoted to the stage, keeping on exploring the possibilities of sound and the intersections between disciplines and cultures, with endless curiosity, admiration, and a sense of humor.
